CHAMBER MUSIC FOR THE 21ST CENTURY.
Dear Friends of IonSound Project,
We have been asked many times over the past few weeks how people can support artists during these unsettled and trying times. Many arts organizations are pausing their activities, and unfortunately concerts for a live audience are not likely to resume soon. Although we cannot perform live concerts right now, we can nurture our artistic souls collectively by continuing important work on passion projects. This project, “Inspired By,” is precisely that. Financial investments in this recording project, along with many hours of hard work, began over a year ago. We are setting a goal to complete this project while we have this unexpected abundance of time, and simultaneous need for meaningful artistic work and connection with our communities. We hope to be able to move forward with your support if you are interested and able to contribute.
“Inspired By" was born out of our desire to commission new music for Clarinet, Cello, and Piano Trio that would be as musically rewarding and substantial as the current core repertoire for this instrumentation. We laid out our vision for the ‘inspired by’ aspect to be determined by each composer individually. The first commission for this project dates back to 2011 when we asked composer Jonathan Kolm to write a piece inspired by the Johannes Brahms Trio. The result fit us beautifully as a group, and left us wanting to expand the project. The Beethoven Trio emerged as the obvious candidate. Spanish-American composer Elisenda Fábregas was our absolute first choice, and we were thrilled when she agreed! The results strike the perfect balance of paying homage to titans of the past while exploring the present-day expressions of music. Our CD will include all four of these compositions.
We are asking you, our friends, to support us in our endeavor. For your generous tax-deductible donation, our gifts to you are...
$25: CD with shipping
($20 for extra CDs beyond the first to the same address)
$50: CD and Mug with IonSound logo
$100: All of the above plus an IonSound T-shirt (please specify size)
$250: All of the above plus a signed print of our CD cover art designed by our
very own Kathleen Costello- violin drawing sample here.
$2000: Private concert within a two-hour drive of Pittsburgh plus all of the
above (when public concerts are possible again).
